Institute of Applied Physics
This institute of the Friedrich Schiller University Jena has a longstanding tradition and competence in design, fabrication and application of active and passive photonic elements for both, optic and optoelectronic devices. Currently the institute has fife main research areas: fiber and waveguide lasers, microstructure technology, optical engineering design, nano optics, and ultrafast optics.
Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Optics and Precision Engineering
Research and development at Fraunhofer IOF focuses on optical systems technology with a view to continually improving the control of light from generation via guiding and manipulation up to its application.
Institute of Condensed Matter Theory and Solid State Optics
This institute of the Friedrich Schiller University Jena has an outstanding expertise in the development of theoretical concepts for the description and design of micro- and nanostructured optical elements. Currently the institute has four main research areas: nano optics, solitons, nonlinear cavities, and discrete systems.
Institute of Optics and Quantumelectronics
The research profile of this institute of the Friedrich Schiller University Jena comprises the interaction of intense ultrashort laser pulses with matter and x-ray physics and diagnostics. The entire range from non-perturbative but non-relativistic strong field laser physics to relativistic laser plasma physics is covered.
Abbe School of Photonics
The Abbe School of Photonics of the Friedrich Schiller University Jena provides education programs with multidisciplinary coverage of the field of Optics & Photonics, from upstream scientific aspects to engineering and applications in major sectors of economy. Students enrolled in the school are trained for technical or scientific positions in industry and academia.
